Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA)

Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) provides free, unbiased and confidential help with Medicare and health care choices. We help to assess client’s health care coverage needs, determine general eligibility for health care coverage programs and provide enrollment help with Medicare.

Health Benefit Exchange (HBE)

Information & Assistance staff are certified in-person assisters for the HBE to enroll eligible individuals into the Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance program.

Benefits Enrollment Center (BEC)

First Regional BEC in the state of Washington that is funded by the National Council on Aging, provides person-centered assistance to low-income seniors and persons with disabilities in accessing all of the benefits for which they may be eligible, such as Medicare and Medicaid, LIS, MSP, SNAP, utility discount, prescription drug.

Health Care Access Made Easy

  • Provides services and increases access to services among immigrant populations in King County who are unable or ineligible to receive services through Medicaid or the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
  • Addresses the cultural, linguistic, social and economic barriers that prevent immigrant populations in King County from successfully using medical and other resources, including preventive care services.
  • Improves access for areas within King County that experience greater health disparities, such as the cities of Tukwila, Burien, Kent, Des Moines, Normandy Park, and Federal Way.
