Our Impact

Our Impact

The Challenges

  • Mainstream systems lack culturally appropriate services that respect and honor the heritage of immigrant communities, making the transition to a new environment lengthier and more difficult.

  • Accessing services available only in English creates a barrier for immigrants to navigate systems and utilize resources to address their needs.

  • A multitude of services with varying eligibility criteria are scattered across many organizations and levels of government, which creates challenges for immigrants to navigate without guidance.

  • Immigrant communities are underrepresented in the decision-making process, which perpetuates systemic racism and inequities.

Success Stories

“Ms. Li recently moved to Washington State and was unfamiliar with how to apply for affordable health coverage for her family. Our team member walked them through the whole process of applying for plans under the Affordable Care Act including the documents to gather. We helped them address their current medical bills, learn how to utilize insurance when seeking future medical services, and select a primary care provider near their home. We were grateful to help this family understand the importance of preventive care and access services using their affordable healthcare plan.”

“CISC improved Mr. Wong’s well-being and thousands more like him in our region. He faced many challenges living alone without family support and with a visual impairment. When he enrolled in our long-term care services, a case manager conducted a comprehensive assessment to develop a care plan and connected him to in-home care services. Through our efforts, he can navigate daily challenges with confidence and independence.”

Today, our dedicated staff listen to and care deeply about the people we serve and connect them to services that address their needs. We are honored to help improve the lives of immigrant communities who speak Russian, Ukrainian, Chinese, and Vietnamese languages.”

“CISC has served three generations of the Yu Family for 15 years. Mr. Yu’s two sons both have autism and he speaks no English. When a friend introduced him to CISC, we were able to connect him to programs that addressed many of his challenges. We enrolled his grandson in our ParentChild+ program to prepare him for preschool and beyond. Our Early Learning Specialist helped Mr. Yu learn best practices and techniques to support his grandson’s educational development.”
